Development of Allison scanner to measure transverse emittance at low energy beam transport of rare-isotope accelerator complex for ON-line experiments

The Rare-isotope Accelerator complex for ON-line experiments is a heavy-ion accelerator facility that accelerates stable or rare isotope beam up to 400 kW with an energy of 200 MeV/u. Various beams are generated from the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source, 10 keV/u and separated according A/Q at first dipole magnet (DM). To measure transverse emittance Low Energy Beam Transport section, two Allison scanners installed behind DM X Y directions. It consist servo motor driving, Faraday cup current measurement, deflection plates, electronic device. measurable range angle in scanner determined by structure plate designed based on mathematical calculations. Experimental Physics Industrial Control System (EPICS) adopted integrate control variety devices. measurement sequence scanner, EPICS sequencer module was used. Normalized calculated python code Pyepics using phase space distribution data. In this paper, we present detailed design configuration system, experimental results Ar9+ 30 μA beam.

If the beam is injected into the ring with an offset a, it undergoes betatron oscillation. After the oscillation decoheres, the beam transverse emittance increases by ∆ε . To avoid this emittance increase one typically uses a feedback (or damper) that takes out the oscillation before it damps down. We show that using echo one can recover a fraction of ∆ε long after the beam oscillation decoheres.
